Practically everyone knows Jeremiah 29:11. It is on posters, book covers, coffee mugs, t-shirts, journal covers, bumper stickers, pens, pencils, and pretty much anything you can put an image on. In case you need a refresher, here it is:
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (NIV)
Many people live their lives by this scripture. However, Jeremiah 29:12-14 is not as widely known.
12Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.” (NIV)
Just let that sit for a minute and then read Jeremiah 29:11-14.
Jeremiah 29:12-14 explains if you pray and seek the Lord, He will listen to you. You have to make the effort to seek God.
When your "plans" seem to be shot, seek God because only He can bring you back from the chaos.
Be careful though! Do not make your plans according to yourself. In other words, if you have a plan to get mega rich in the next two years by becoming a big time celebrity who has the best parties in all of Hollywood, that might not be God's plan.
If you have a plan for something, seek God first. Knock on his door. He knows the plan. He knows how to get you there. If that is not His plan for you, He will put you back on the right track.
Pray on!
